Roberto L. Collazo-Maldonado, M.D.

Dr.
Roberto Collazo received his doctor of medicine from the University of
Puerto Rico School of Medicine in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. His
internship and residency was completed at the Veterans Affairs Medical
Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1996, he moved with his family to
Dallas for a three-year nephrology fellowship at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center. He then joined Dallas Nephrology
Associates in 1999. Methodist Dallas Medical Center is his primary
admitting hospital where he is active on many committees including the
Medicine Executive Committee, Medicine Quality Improvement Committee,
Corporate Graduate Medical Education Committee, Internal Medicine
Advisory Board, Internal Medicine Teaching Council and Continuing
Medical Education Committee. In 2005 he became the Medical Director of
the Acute Hemodialysis Center at Methodist and Medical Director at a
local outpatient dialysis facility. In 2006 he was given the honor of
Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor, UTA School of Nursing. Dr.
Collazo is active in teaching for the Internal Medicine residency
program and was has received the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Teaching
Faculty of the Year for the years 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. Other
accomplishments in 2008 included his Governor-appointed position on the
Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force and being elected Chief of Nephrology
at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Diagnosis and treatment of kidney
disease is his primary focus. |
