Dr. Velez has been the President/CEO of Dallas Nephrology Associates since 2000.  He received his M.D. from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, in San Juan, and completed his Internship and Residency as Chief Resident at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas.  Dr. Velez completed his Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.  He is on the Teaching Staff at Methodist Medical Center as well as a Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  Dr. Velez was also certified in Critical Care Medicine from 1991 to 2001.  He has had numerous appointments, but currently is a Nephrology Representative on the Texas Carrier Advisory Committee; ESRD Task Force Texas Department of Health Committee; has served as an RPA Board Member since 2005, and has recently been appointed RPA Secretary Treasurer 2007, and is on the Medical Advisory Board for the National Kidney Foundation of North Texas.  He is also the Medical Director of the Waxahachie Dialysis Unit and Pleasant Run Dialysis Unit.  His clinical interests include adult Nephrology, hypertension, transplantation and critical care.
