Congratulations to Mary Beth Callahan, ACSW, LCSW on her receipt of the 2017 Medal of Excellence Social Work Honoree Award by the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP). The award is the association’s highest honor for kidney health professionals who are recognized for being in the forefront of scientific advances in kidney care and who are strong patient advocates. Mary Beth was presented with this distinguished award for her outstanding contributions in social work during the AAKP Medal of Excellence Awards Dinner which was held on March 17, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mary Beth works with chronic kidney disease patients as well as pre and post-transplant recipients and has authored numerous articles and presented on a multitude of topics. She currently serves on the Board of the Society for Transplant Social Workers, is past Chair of the Council of Nephrology Social Workers and an Emeritus Life Options Rehabilitation Advisory Council member. In 2015, she was the recipient of the NKF Council of Nephrology Social Workers Robert W. Whitlock Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mary Beth continues to be an active contributor, member and leader with numerous healthcare groups and committees related to the care of patients with chronic kidney disease. Mary Beth Callahan joined Dallas Nephology Associates in 1994 and currently offices at our Dallas Transplant Institute facility.
